About
Adrian Harris is the Director of Thumbprint and is passionate about making the arts accessible to all people. He is an Artist, Creative Arts Therapist an Social Worker with a Masters degree in both Creative Arts Therapy and Social Work. Adrian also a professional member of the Australian, New Zealand and Asian Creative Arts Therapies Association (ANZACATA).
Adrian has experience working privately and as a member of a therapeutic teams in a variety of settings in Australia'. These settings include:
- The Hobart Clinic (using visual arts with people who experience mental illness and mental health conditions);
- Mental Illness Fellowship (using visual arts with people who experience mental illness);
- Pioneer Employment Service (using visual arts and sculpture with young people who experience intellectual disabilities);
- North Melbourne Primary School (using Manga and drawing to explore literacy and alternative teaching approaches with students);
- Royal Children's Hospital (using drama and visual arts with adolescent sex offenders through the Adolescent Forensic Health Service);
- Yooralla (using film, drama, music and visual arts with people who experience physical and/or intellectual disabilities);
- Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre (using visual arts and play with young offenders, one-to-one and in groups);
- The City of Maribyrnong (using music and movement with people who experience intellectual disabilities);
- The Positive Living Centre (usual visual arts with HIV+ clients);
- The City of Port Phillip (using music and visual arts with people who experience mental illness);
- The City of Yarra (working with young peoplewho experience intellectual disabilities);
- Jewish Care (using play with autistic adults with challenging behaviour);
- The Brotherhood of St Lawrence (using visual arts and play while preparing breakfast for young people of Fitzroy's public housing estates);
- The University of Victoria (using drama and play with social work students to overcome study related stress);
- The University of Newcastle (using visual arts with same-sex attracted students).
Adrian holds a current:

- Certificate in First Aid
As an Artist and Creative Arts Therapist, Adrian believes that all people have the ability to make their own unique mark on the world. He also believes that any product of art therapy that holds meaning for its creator/s is as essential as any 'great' work of art.
